50 Years of Rugby Excellence

Our Story

Dunmanway Rugby Club was founded in 1973 by three AIB bank employees - Mick Hegarty, Gerry Heffernan, and Frank Casey. What began as a shared passion for rugby in the Parkway Hotel (then the Bostonian Hotel) has grown into one of West Cork's most successful rugby clubs. On April 12th, 1973, we played our first match against Skibbereen, with Sam Beamish scoring our very first try. From humble beginnings at Dromleena Lawn with the Arch Bar as changing facilities, we've grown to our current home at Milleenanannig on the Clonakilty Road.
